Matt McLaren has been playing piano since he was three years old. That's not a detail he leads with, but it's the one that explains everything. By the time most people are deciding whether they like music, Matt was already inside it, already learning to hear what others couldn't, already developing the ear that would eventually shape the work of artists across Newcastle and beyond.
S&M Studios has been part of the Newcastle music scene since 2010. What Matt has built there is not simply a recording space. The work itself
Matt works across the full arc of music production, from the first conversation about what an artist is trying to say, through scratch tracks and arrangement, into sound design, vocal production and the final mix.
