Good Hunter was built to be that format.
Good Hunter is a monthly gathering for business owners, founders and senior leaders, run by the team at Mezzanine and hosted at INNX in Newcastle. The format is deliberately simple: around ten to twelve people, ninety minutes, a conversation shaped by the people in the room rather than a fixed agenda. No pitching, no performance, no egos at the door.
The sessions are built for leaders who are carrying real responsibility and want a trusted room to think, speak and listen alongside peers who understand what that's like. People who believe their responsibility as a business leader extends beyond profit. People who are curious, honest and willing to show up without pretending to have everything figured out.
It runs monthly, early morning, at INNX on Parry Street. Tickets are $22, and the full amount goes directly to support Mezzanine's impact partners, enabling social enterprises and not-for-profits to amplify their work in the region. Good Hunter is in partnership with B Lab Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, the organisation behind the global B Corp movement.
Mezzanine has been working with organisations on brand, purpose and culture for nearly three decades. In that time, a consistent pattern has emerged in conversations with leaders: the higher the level of responsibility, the fewer the spaces where honest conversation is genuinely possible.
It's not that leaders don't want to be honest. It's that most professional environments don't create the conditions for it. There's too much at stake in most rooms to say I'm not sure I'm getting this right or I made a call last quarter I'm still not certain about or the culture I'm trying to build isn't landing the way I intended. So those thoughts stay internal, circulating without resolution, taking up space that should be going toward better decisions and clearer thinking.
Good Hunter is for exactly those thoughts. Not to solve them in ninety minutes, but to give them air. To put them in a room where other people are holding similar things and where the collective experience of the group becomes a genuine resource.
Leadership can be lonely. It doesn't have to be quite as lonely as it usually is.
Each session is shaped by whoever's in the room, so no two are identical.
